Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is preparing for a big event in 2017 – the show’s 50th edition. Cosmopack will take place March 16th – 19th and Cosmoprof, March 17th – 20th, 2017. The images above are from the show’s new ad campaign. The event has grown to become a not-to-be-missed event for manufacturers, marketers, professionals, distributors and suppliers in every facet of the beauty industry. The 49th edition was held in March 2016, and drew a record number of attendees – take a look at Beauty Packaging’s show review here, Cosmopack Bologna 2016: The Great Reveal. Each year, the trade fair in Bologna is organized by BolognaFiere Group in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia – The Personal Care Association, and is supported by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. “Internationalization” will be one of the show’s themes in 2017. The International Buyer Program will help facilitate the scheduling of B2B meetings between exhibitors and representatives of new markets, in an effort to help brands become more global. Events planned for 2017 include the Extraordinary Gallery, which will showcase international luxury cosmetic brands and their suppliers. The products featured here will be examples of “eco-sustainability,” organizers say. The exhibit will convey the origin of the raw materials used in the products and/or packaging. There will also be an exhibit area dedicated to Halal-certified cosmetics, which is growing in demand. The show will also feature a Spa section, which will include conferences and meeting areas designed to help specialized buyers in the spa, wellness and hospitality industries to network. In addition, On Hair will present its 8th edition, showcasing cutting edge hair trends during a runway show. Highlights From Cosmopack NY 2016 Show organizers recently set up shop in Manhattan, for a show that featured a handful of exhibitors, in a spacious venue. Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna presented the third edition of its Cosmopack International Business Forum & Exhibition on May 11th – 12th, 2016. The event was held at Spring Studios, in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood. The small event was quiet, but several suppliers, including Baralan’s team, pointed out that it was an ideal venue for long meetings with their important customers. A few packaging executives were spotted in the adjoining espresso bar, while other attendees headed to The Make Up Room for live demonstrations. The show featured a “Made in Italy” theme. Maurizio Forte, Trade Commissioner & Executive Director of ITA for the USA said, “This event is a great opportunity for Italian companies to enter the US market and to establish new relationships with the most important retailers of the East Coast.” Baralan, Pusterla, Omnicos, and Pink Frogs were a few of the suppliers at the show. Many, including Baralan, said they enjoyed the quiet spacious venue, saying it provided an ideal opportunity to conduct productive meetings. We spotted a few suppliers visiting with executives from some of the largest beauty companies that are based in NY, behind the privacy of their partially enclosed booths. Here are a few of the highlights from some of the suppliers: G. Candiani, known for its decorative custom caps and closures for fragrances, promoted its new jars, ideal for skincare. A spatula applicator is hidden in the cap, and slides out. The jars can be produced in Surlyn, for a crystal clear look. Pennellifaro had its new Tip & Blend applicators on display. The brushes are designed to make it easier to apply makeup more precisely to small areas on the face, and blend. Each brush has a small round tip at the top. The company’s sales rep commented that even though they have a lot of competition from China, its customers are more than willing to pay slightly more for its quality and “Made In Italy” status. Cosmoproject highlighted some of its products, such as body scrubs, lotions and serums, which it developed using innovative formulation technologies based on trends. The supplier’s Snow Cream won an award in Bologna for its innovative texture. Hypnotic Cosmetics promoted its capabilities, as well as its flexible scheduling and willingness to work with start-up companies on small orders. The company is based in Italy, but has a production facility in New Jersey where they fill, label and assemble. Lumson spoke to visitors about how it has expanded its airless technology into new types of plastic packaging. Its jar-like bottle looks like a jar, but dispenses like a bottle. The user twists the cap to unlock it, then pushes it down to dispense a serum or lotion – right through the cap. Its shape will appeal to brand marketers who like the look of a jar, for shelf appeal, and to differentiate certain products in a skin care line. Yet, it provides all the same benefits of an airless bottle, and contains Lumson’s pouch dispensing technology. Upcoming Shows: Save the Dates Cosmoprof Asia will take place in Hong Kong in November, 2016. One show, focusing on ingredients, machinery, packaging, contract manufacturing and private label will take place November 15th – 17th at the AsiaWorld Expo. Another, focusing on Cosmetics & Toiletries, Natural Health, Salon products, Nails and Beauty Accessories takes place on November 16th – 18th at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. Cosmoprof Worldwide in Bologna, Italy, will take place March 17th – 20th, 2017. Cosmopack opens a day early, and will be held March 16th – 19th, 2017.
